My research focuses on the role of rights, courts and legal reasoning in American politics, and on the ways in which organizations respond when faced with legal and political demands to change their practices. I am honored to be the Alice Freeman Palmer Professor of Political Science.  Prof. Palmer, a remarkable and influential woman, was the second president of Wellesley College.
